This project was another variation of my earlier 1,000 steps project in college. For this one we had to go out and spend a whole day observing some place off campus and design a poster about it. I chose the Science Center of Iowa for mine.

I actually had never been to the Science Center outside of their Mixology nights and I came during an interesting visiting exhibit about race.

I based my design off of the idea of a galaxy and that the exhibits rotated around the logo in the middle. While at the Science Center, I took pictures of the exhibit to use to reference later. The background is based off of one of the exhibits they had about Geometry and I used a Science Wingbants font for the symbols and icons.

I took notes of various quotes while I was in the exhibits, like in the Race exhibit, I took notes on how people had written about the ways Race affected them. And in the nature area, I wrote down what I saw about their rocks, animals, and plants featured there.

I tried to incorporate something from each exhibit in the design of the poster and even tried to play around with 3D Photoshop or Illustrator abilities, but unfortunately my computer was too slow for that. And the poster already was taking up a lot of space on my laptop.

Anyways, I really enjoyed this project and designing it. It was really interesting and I enjoyed observing and designing around that.
